Michelle Affleck graduated from Cal State University Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism in 2008. Michelle interned in the busy news room of a major San Diego television station while earning her degree, and has been working as a writer and editor for various organizations and companies since graduating. Drawing from her creative writing skills and experience in news, Michelle informs the public on the issues that matter most.
Tim Lavelle is the first born son of a West Point graduate and Vietnam War Veteran who dazzled him with Army stories throughout his childhood. Tim graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 2006, double majoring in Psychology and Political Science. Serving as an intern in the VA Hospital’s Schizophrenia Research Laboratory, he became interested in Veterans affairs. He is all intrigued by Geo-Politics, Military History, and Battle Strategy, but focuses his research on military education benefits because of his belief that they are one of the best benefits of service in the American military.
Alex Austin graduated from Cal State Los Angeles in 2008 with a Bachelors in Communications. After graduation Alex participated in various non-profits in varying positions and roles eventually finding his calling in dealing with veterans affairs. Inspired by the sacrifices our military personnel have made, Alex is determined to advocate for Veterans rights, especially when it pertains to the GI Bill.
Jessica Johnson is a family member to numerous active and veteran military personnel, both enlisted and commissioned. She graduated from the University of Southern California in 2007 with a degree in Business. She has a keen interest in understanding the rights and benefits of those serving or who have served in the armed forces, and created Veterans Benefits GI Bill to raise awareness of problems facing military personnel when attempting to exercise their education benefits.
Kourtnie McKenzie graduated from Cal State University Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2009. She has had previous experience in both online and campus education through Coastline Community College’s online classes and Orange Coast College and Cal State Fullerton University’s hybrid experiences. She paid for parts of her college courses with financial aid programs offered by the government and hopes to educate military students about the value or utilizing government financial aid services for achieving their educational goals.
