Hire-a-Vet Job Fair Coming to Orange County, California
According to a recent Orange County Register article, sixty employers are expected to attend a hiring fair Thursday, May. 26, for military veterans and National Guard and Reservists returning from active duty.
The event is sponsored by the state Employment Development Department, and last year’s event drew more than 600 veteran attendees.
What will this year feature? There will be a variety of employers ranging from Raytheon/ThalesRaytheon Systems to L-3 Power Paragon/Interstate Electronics, Wells Fargo Bank, Laguna Tools and Innovative Construction Solutions. In addition, there will also be a variety of benefits, training and career resources and veteran service providers, according to the article.
The job fair is open to anyone, but is aimed to help veterans find work in this tough economy. Unfortunately, the unemployment rate among veterans is high. The article states that, in April, there were 873,000 unemployed veterans nationwide, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
